This special time of Autumn and Winter preparing for the holidays has brought many special experiences, memories and dreams coming true. Some of those dreams began on my first visit to Ribeira Sacra in Otoño 2011. A very special thank you to Mili Méndez of La Voz de Galicia periodico for interviewing me for De Vinos segment and letting me share some of my appreciation and experience of Ribeira Sacra – it truly is vibrant, alive, and magical. I look forward to discovering and sharing in more special times in this very special place.
As my synchronicities have continued I have journeyed 5 times on the Camino de Santiago and will continue to explore its other routes. I have met incredible people and my appreciation and love of Galicia has only deepened. I am very grateful to everyone who has been a special part of my Camino Life Journey without all of you this would not be possible.
The journey continues and I owe a very special thank you to my friends Lucie and Kaj Christensen of Cabo Do Mundo Casa Rural who invited to me to house sit and watch over their incredible casa rural during the holiday season. It is the perfect place to prepare projects for 2015 and to now write my synchronistic story of how the Camino called me to experience its beauty, history and magic.
Muchisimas gracias to Gérman Limeres for bringing me first to Ribeira Sacra in 2011 and introducing me to this incredible place and for taking my picture enjoying some of the fantastic wines and delicious tapas of the region.
We waited a long time for summer to arrive in Galicia and now it seems that soon it will be over as we are almost halfway through August… The Bodegueros – winemakers – will be paying extra close attention to Las Viñas – As VIDES – The Vines as they begin to make preparations for the special and important work of VENDIMIA – Wine HARVEST! So it is countdown for Bo Camiño TASTE IT! and El Camino Del Vino as the friends of Los Corchos – “wine lovers” – await this very special celebration in the fields and for us it will be the Ancient Roman Vineyards of Ribeira Sacra – so looking forward to it. Another 4 year dream coming to life 🙂
A very special thank you to German Limeres for the wonderful ancient photo of TESOROS – to include in the poster and for your beautiful Bo Camiño TASTE IT! Logo sure makes blogging a whole lot more fun! For more information please visit: http://www.gastrofotographia.com
La Noche Templaria – The Night Of The Templar Festival – had us back out filming Bo Camiño TASTE IT! in Ponferrada. The city so named for the “Bridge Pons Ferrata” that provided easier crossing for pilgrims who could choose from two different and important routes along the way. The Camino Francés that heads northwest to Villa Franca Del Bierzo or the Camino Invierño – The Winter way that heads west avoiding the snow topped mountains in winter of O Cebreiro the gateway into Galicia.
Jaime Pardo and Maria Santín of Imaxina Diseño, German Limeres of Gastrofotographia and I enjoyed meeting new people, taking in the atmosphere of the ancient town of Ponferrada and filming some of the unique gastronomy, fun festival events and ceremonies. A very special thank you to Jesus who coordinated our activities and for meeting some wonderful people in Ponferrada including Gabriel Vallejo Carnero – La Destileria Bar, Maxi Campelo – Casa Las Bombas Restaurant, and Miguel A. Varela – Teatro Municipal Bergidum for including us in some incredible gastronomy and festival ceremonies.
What is it about Food, Wine, and TRAVEL that we all can’t get enough of? Embedded in our nature is a desire to explore, discover and experience something new, as well as, combining the best of what we know and love. Such are the yearly spanishadventures of a fantastically creative group ZUZU Napa! “ZuZu is a beloved, Spanish-inspired restaurant and tapas bar in Napa’s historic Old Town. For the last twelve years, it has drawn scores of visitors near and far who come for its warm Mediterranean décor, lively atmosphere, and renowned small-plates menu that draws from the culinary traditions of Spain and South America.”
Thank you Zuzu Napa for stopping by the Bo Camiño TASTE IT! booth at this years Fórum Gastronómic and sharing some of what you love of food, wine and travel! Always great meeting new people during their adventures in Galicia and this was an especially fun time and re-connection with the USA having a little chat in english all sharing what we love of Spain and Galicia!
Three of my favorite flavors to enjoy in Spain have been Vino Tinto, Queso Manchego, and Jamon. Part of the traditional diet of spaniards it has become a weekly ritual of enjoyment for me during my time living in Galicia. Once you have tasted this magical combination you can see why it is enjoyed by all who are fortunate to discover it. This is a habit that would be hard to give up. Discovering your favorite Jamon is like finding your favorite wine a treasure hunt that always provides delicious SURPRISES!
A very special thank you to our Fórum friends Jamoneros Jesús Gonzalez (Dehesa De Extramadura) and Clemente Gomez (Los Pedroches) who so graciously spoiled us for three days at Fórum Gastronómic Coruña ’14.

Fórum Gastronómic Coruña ’14 had everyone sharing all that they love of FOOD & WINE – DESSERTS & SPIRITS! Galicia’s gastronomy is as diverse as its breathtaking landscapes where you are sure to find many things that you love and keep you wanting to discover more. Monica Castelao visited us in the Bo Camiño TASTE IT! booth to help us make an invitation to all to come and explore all that Galicia has to offer.
Monica Castelao is an avid blogger passionate about gastronomy and tourism sharing the best of Galicia with everyone!!!
It was standing room only for the live demonstrations and events of this year’s Fórum Gastronómic Coruña ’14. It is exciting to see the enthusiasm of the people of Galicia and their love of Gastronomy. Here is a highlight of one of the introductions before the cooking demonstrations began. It was shoulder to shoulder which makes for a little shaky video but you can see for yourself some of the excitement in the air that made Fórum Gastronómic fast paced, fun, educational and entertaining!
